Time Machine aborting backups intermittently with error -34 since June 17th security update I noticed a couple of days ago that Time Machine has been failing to complete any backups since June 17th. Here's a link to the Adobe Forum where much discussion has led to the current state of affairs. But I'm wondering if maybe someone with a bigger brain than me might see a solution that makes everyone happy, or that maybe just maybe, an Apple engineer might find this post and see a challenge worth accepting. I have a workaround, and it's less than ideal. Only InDesign is affected.Īdobe says it's a user problem and their software works as advertised. Particulars: Big Sur, latest Adobe updates (Sept 2021), older iMac, Retina 5K, late 2015 (still a great machine!!) and all other software, including Adobe products, are working fine. It's not really a solution though, right? I have spent HOURS trying to solve this problem before finding the above mentioned workaround of turning off the backup in process. Neither of these workarounds is ideal.Īpparently Adobe's engineers will admit that the problem exists (typically they tell you to spend hours reinstalling the software, trashing prefs, turning off fonts, the usual suspects).

Turning off WIFI also works, and my Time Machine backup is via the wireless express airport extreme, so that makes sense. It's been a well-known issue on the Adobe InDesign forum, and apparently there's a conflict with Time Machine (I have experienced this frustrating problem for the past 6 months or so), where working in InDesign is constantly, and I mean constantly, interrupted by the dreaded spinning beachball.īy selecting " Skip this backup" from the Time Machine pulldown menu you can alleviate the problem somewhat, but it does come back and you have to select Skip This Backup multiple times it seems.
